Attention: App State Email Account: Important Information for Alumni

The new standard for former student email accounts has been updated to the following: A student email account is valid as long as they are registered for classes or were registered for classes within the last 12 months.

Beginning in 2007, students were permitted to keep their Appalachian accounts following graduation. As the university adopts a new standard of migrating all faculty and staff to Google Apps for Education, accounts belonging to students who graduated between 2007 and May 2014 are scheduled to be deleted on June 1st, 2015.

If your account falls into this category, you must retrieve any Emails, Drive Files or Calendars by June 1st, 2015 at 5 pm.

Follow the instructions below to prepare for this deletion and retrieve your account data:

Step 1:

Go to https://bannerweb.appstate.edu  to provide/update your alternate email address on file with the university. Select the personal information tab, then view/update personal email address.

  • This email address will allow the university to maintain communication with you in the future

Step 2:

If you have a GoldBook Account with the Alumni Association, visit https://alumni.appstate.edu/gold-book to update your alternate e-mail address.

  • You can update your preferences in the GoldBook, to select what types of e-mails you would like to receive from Appalachian (alumni events, campus announcements, giving opportunities, etc.

Step 3:

Retrieve your emails, drive files and calendars from your App State Gmail account before June 1st.

  • For complete instructions on retrieving your data, click here.
  • Your data will no longer be accessible after June 1, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. Please allow several days to complete the retrieval process.

Step 4:

Consider all other accounts/applications your App State email may be associated with.

  • These may include Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Phone Applications, Xbox Live, Android Phones, Apple IDs, Amazon and many others. Click here for important information about identifying third
party applications and Google products you may have tied to your account.
