Alumni Association Awards

Honoring the Best of Appalachian

Each year the Appalachian Alumni Association recognizes great alumni and friends for their service to the university and accomplishments in their careers. The awards are given during the Alumni Awards Gala during Alumni Reunion Weekend.

Distinguished Alumni Award

Given annually to Appalachian alumni who have attained extraordinary distinction and success in their career field and have demonstrated exceptional and sustained leadership in their community.

Outstanding Service Award

Recognizes individuals for their exceptional service to the University. Examples of service include serving on any board or council dedicated to the progress of Appalachian, assisting with alumni functions or related university events, promoting Appalachian in the community, providing financial support to the university or contributing time and energy to the general betterment and development of Appalachian.

Young Alumni Award

The Young Alumni Award was established in 2004 and is given to individuals for their exceptional service to the University and accomplishments in their career. Candidates must be under 40 years of age and have completed a program of study at Appalachian no less than one year prior to the date of the award.

Honorary Alumni Award

The Honorary Alumni Award was established in 1992 to recognize individuals who have given unselfishly of themselves to Appalachian State University but never graduated from nor attended the University. In order to be considered for Honorary Alumnus status, individuals must show a strong commitment to the University's mission and exemplify outstanding service to the University.
