Help Appalachian’s Solar Decathlon team during the home stretch
If you currently are in the Boone area or are planning to be next week, you can help out our very own Solar Decathlon team in their final steps before Washington!
A message from a team participant:
As many of you may already know, the Solar Homestead is Appalachian State University’s student-run entry for the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011. If you have been looking to get involved, we could really use your help in this last project we have before we depart for Washington D.C. and the National Mall.
We have designed a creative and amazing takeaway for distribution to every visitor on the National Mall. We have over 55,000 takeaways that need to be folded, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make this possible. We have reserved Legends, located at 190 Hardin Street, next week on Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th, Thursday 8th, and Friday 9th from 8am – 5pm each day.
There is no need to reserve a spot; just show up and ask the organizers how to get started. If you have any other questions email us at solarhomestead@appstate.edu or call us at (828)262-8519. We truly could use your help and participation in this project. This is a great way to learn about the house and its features through the videos and information we’ll have, as well as a venue for any questions about the project.
Also stay tuned for information about the People’s Choice Award and how you can vote in the coming weeks. This is one part of the competition everyone can help with!
