J. CHRISTIAN STEVENSON
Kirk Palmer & Thigpen PA, Charlotte

I’ve served on the board of directors for Mental Health Association of Central Carolinas Inc. for the past three years and have been involved with my church in a variety of capacities. I coached YMCA girls’ soccer for five consecutive seasons, served as a class of ‘93 agent for Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Annual Fund campaign and have volunteered as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army for the past five years.
Vita: Born July 6, 1971, in Baltimore; bachelor’s from Lenoir-Rhyne University, master’s from Appalachian State University and law degree from UNC Chapel Hill; wife and three children.
What he’d be if not a lawyer: I would love to work in higher education at the undergraduate level at a small college or university.
Memorable case: Some years ago, I represented the congregation of a local AME Zion Church in connection with the sale of the church property to a storage company. A unique aspect of the transaction involved the drafting and negotiation of an easement for a cemetery located on the subject property. I enjoyed my interaction with the members of the congregation and its leadership, as well as the challenge of negotiating an agreement that would meet the future needs of the church with respect to its continued use and access to the cemetery.
Passions: My family.
Favorite place: A tie between the Scottish highlands and Monterey Peninsula in California.
Recent reading: Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It’s an incredible true story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic athlete and World War II hero.
